OUR PASTRY AND BAKING CLASSES IN PARIS
Discover the joy of baking in Paris with our hands-on pastry classes, taught in English by a professional chef. From buttery croissants and colorful macarons to gourmet French tarts and boutique-style patisserie pick a class below — or check our guide further down the page to help you choose.
How to choose the right pastry class for you
With seven different workshops on offer, picking the right one can feel harder than making the pastry itself. Here’s a quick guide based on what you’re hoping to get out of your Paris baking experience.
First time in a pastry kitchen? Start with the Croissant class or the Macaron class. Both are designed to teach foundational French techniques — lamination for croissants, Italian meringue for macarons — without assuming any prior baking experience. These are also our most requested classes for solo travelers and first-time visitors to Paris.
Visiting with family or a group of friends? Our small-group format (capped at 6 participants for most classes) means everyone gets real hands-on time with the chef, rather than watching from the back of a crowded room. The Croissant and French Tart classes tend to work particularly well for mixed-age groups, since the techniques are approachable for teens and adults alike.
Already comfortable in the kitchen and want a challenge? The Boutique-Style French Pastry class and the Bicolor Croissant class go further into technique — layering, shaping, and finishing methods used in professional French pastry shops. These suit guests who’ve baked before and want to leave with more advanced skills, not just a recipe.
Traveling as a couple and want something a little special? The Macaron & Champagne class adds a celebratory touch to the macaron-making experience, finishing with a glass of champagne — a popular choice for anniversaries, honeymoons, or simply a memorable afternoon in Paris.
Short on time in Paris? Most of our classes run in a single session of a few hours, so you can fit a class around a Paris itinerary without dedicating a full day. If you’d rather go deeper, the One-Day Baking Workshop combines multiple techniques into a longer, more immersive session.
Not sure yet? All classes are taught in English by a professional French pastry chef, held in our central Paris studio in the 9th arrondissement, a short walk from Montmartre. You can also reach out directly and we’ll help match you to the right class based on your experience level, group size, and how much time you have in the city.

Why choose Pâtisserie à la Carte
Pâtisserie à la Carte has been teaching French pastry and baking classes in Paris for over a decade — we’re celebrating our 12th anniversary this year. Every class is led by a professional French pastry chef and taught in English, so you’re learning real techniques used in French pastry kitchens, not a simplified home-baking version.
Our classes are intentionally kept small — most are capped at 6 participants — because hands-on learning doesn’t work in a crowded room. You’ll actually shape the croissants, pipe the macarons, or assemble the tart yourself, with direct feedback from the chef throughout.
We’re based in a dedicated studio in central Paris, in the 9th arrondissement, close to Montmartre — easy to reach, and part of a neighborhood worth exploring before or after your class.
What guests say matters more than what we say about ourselves. On Google, past participants have described the classes as informative and well-paced for all skill levels, praised the chefs for being patient and clear, and highlighted the quality of what they took home — from croissants to macarons to French tarts. Ratings across recent reviews are consistently five stars.
To mark our 13th anniversary, every class booking currently includes our “Everyday Gourmet French Tarts” eBook as a bonus.
